Group 1, are courses to maintain, improve and expand engineering knowledge and skill prior to initial licensure. The Maximum in each category is as follow:

Engineering curriculum courses 10 PDH
Humanities and Social Sciences: 5 PDH
Group 2, there is no maximum allowed PDH hours limit in Group 2. Group 2 courses can be college postgraduate engineering, new technology, design and science classes. Courses in engineering management and environmental regulations are also accepted in this group. |

The entire 12 PDH may be credited in Category A.
Extra PDH hours during this period cannot be forwarded to the next one.
On the next renewal, the licensees will be required to have completed at least a total of 24 PDH units, as follows:
- A total of 24 PDH units.

A minimum of 18 PDH units in Category A programs, including a minimum of 1 PDH unit in content areas related to the standards of practice or care, laws and regulations applicable to the practice of engineering in Maryland, or professional engineering ethics; and
-
A maximum of 6 PDH units in Category B programs.
